(Orlando, FL – October 16, 2007) - The Orlando Philharmonic invites you to join our musical family for the heartwarming music of the holiday season at our annual concert tradition, Home for the Holidays. The concert takes place on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando. Two performances are held: a matinee performance at 2:00 PM and an evening performance at 8:00 PM. The concert is sponsored by Merrill Lynch. The Artist Sponsors are The Orlando Sentinel and AT&T Real Yellow Pages.
Conducted by Maestro Andrew Lane, Home for the Holidays promises to be a treat for the whole family. Enjoy Holiday classics including White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Santa Claus is coming to Town, and many other favorite holiday songs.
Featured on the program is popular vocalist David Chernault. A professional director, singer, actor, dancer and voice-over artist, Chernault recently starred as Daddy Warbucks for the 30th anniversary tours of Annie run in Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, Clearwater, Des Moines and Grand Rapids. David also went on as Warbucks in New York City at Madison Square Garden with Kathy Lee Gifford. He has been vocal director for Barney on PBS and the Macys's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Philharmonic also welcomes the fabulous voices of The Holiday Singers, the dynamic vocal group who wowed audiences at last season’s Home for the Holidays concert and at the Philharmonic’s concerts at the Springs community in Longwood. They will perform Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes, Night of Silence and An Evergreen Christmas.
Also appearing on the program are the Next Generation Kids, from the Orlando area’s most comprehensive performing arts school of the same name. Next Generation Kids specializes in "triple threat training;" students study singing, acting and dancing. They have been seen in national tours, professional equity theatres, and professional recording sessions for PBS's Barney. The Kids will perform a variety of songs with the Philharmonic.
The 2:00 PM performance will feature a pre-concert holiday activity in the lobby hosted by The Orlando Sentinel.
Tickets to Home for the Holidays are presently on sale. Single tickets are $13, $26, $36, $48 and $62. Subscriptions to the Orlando Philharmonic’s Phil at Carr Series are also on sale, and range in price from $36 to $520. To purchase subscriptions and single tickets, phone the Philharmonic’s Box Office at 407-770-0071, or visit the Philharmonic’s website at www.orlandophil.org.
In the spirit of the holidays, the Philharmonic asks that patrons bring canned and nonperishable food items to help the Second Harvest Food Bank restock the depleted food pantries of Central Florida. With your help, we can help many more families this year.
