(Orlando, FL – June 27, 2007) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra presents the fourth concert in its 2007 Sounds of Summer Series, titled Sounds of a Summer Night in the Garden. The program takes place on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 7:00 PM in the Margeson Theater at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando.
Featuring the Orlando Chamber Soloists, Sounds of a Summer Night in the Garden takes us on a musical tour of beautiful and serene gardens around the world. The program begins with the 2nd movement of the famous Aranjuez Concerto by Rodrigo arranged for solo harp. From the gardens of Spain, we will return to the gardens of Florida and pay tribute to Bok Towers with two works by the husband of Mary Louis Curtis Bok, Efrem Zimbalist. These works, Malaguena and Tango, were arranged for viola and harp. Next will be the famous Chopin Nocturne for violin and piano. A short trip to Oblivion by Piazzolla will be followed by a stroll outdoors to the Seven Scottish Airs of Gustav Holst. The concert will finish at the lake with the headline work of the program, Schubert's beloved "Trout" Quintet, for piano and strings.
Comprising the Orlando Chamber Soloists are Ayako Yonetani, violin; William Goodwin, viola; Grace Bahng, cello; Michael Hill, bass; Dawn Marie Edwards, harp; and Scott Watkins, piano.
