(Orlando, FL – June 22, 2007) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra presents the third concert in its 2007 Sounds of Summer Series, titled From Stage to Screen: A Musical Journey from Sideshow to Soundtrack. The program takes place on Thursday, July 19, 7:00 PM at the Margeson Theater in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando.
From Stage to Screen was created by Douglas Pritchard, who was the genius behind the delightful Sounds of Summer concert "Tales from the Vienna Coffeehouse" last summer. The program takes us back to circa 1920s, where opera, cirque and vaudeville reigned supreme. We’ll follow the story of a fledgling vaudeville troupe as they put together a new show, and witness the comic hijinks and endearing moments as the troupe evolves their show into a success. The program includes music from the silent film era, the circus and vaudeville, opera music by Rossini and Puccini, in addition to an original score by Dani Donadi, a Telly award-winning composer. The program also features authentic silent film clips along with a new short film in the spirit of the silent film era with an original score, actors, jugglers, clowns, and even more music - imagine a vaudeville era silent cinema that comes to life on stage!
This fun and entertaining program boasts an array of talented musicians from the Orlando Philharmonic. On the program are Douglas Pritchard, show creator and viola; Julia Gessinger, Victor Feroni and Olga Feroni, violins; Daniel Flick, violin, guitar and mandolin; Maureen May, cello; Tye Van Buren, bass; Sara Shaw, clarinet; Jeffrey Thomas, trombone; Mark Goldberg, percussion, and Dani Donadi, composer and keyboard, in addition to two vocal soloists.
Tickets are $35 for level 1 seating and $25 for level 2 seating. Students with valid ID can purchase tickets for half price. Senior Citizens receive a 10% discount.
