(Orlando, FL – February 6, 2007) - The Orlando Philharmonic proudly presents The Music Man: A Semi-Staged Musical on Saturday, March 3 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando. You’ll have so much fun that you may want to see it twice – and you can – as it is presented at both 2:00 and 8:00 PM. The performances are sponsored by Massey Services, Inc. The Orlando Sentinel is the Title Sponsor for the Phil at Carr Series.
The Philharmonic’s unique version of this beloved musical abounds with talent from the Central Florida community. Maestro Christopher Wilkins has invited the actors of Mad Cow Theatre to take center stage with the Orlando Philharmonic, along with The Orlando Chorale, in addition to hundreds of area high-school musicians to transport you all the way to River City, Iowa, circa 1912. We’ll follow the adventures of "Professor" Harold Hill and Marian the Librarian in this fast-paced musical delight filled with witty dialogue and engaging characters. The River City Town Band will never sound better in this nostalgic musical romp.
Enjoy the beloved musical numbers from the show including Shipoopi, Ya Got Trouble, The Wells Fargo Wagon, Gary, Indiana, Till There Was You, Marian The Librarian and Seventy-six Trombones.
Performing as Harold Hill is Roy Alan, who has worked professionally over 43 years on Broadway, National Tours, in Stock, Regional, Dinner Theatre, Film and Television. He is a co-owner of The Master Class Academy; a co-founder of The Winter Park Playhouse and proud member of Actors’ Equity Association since 1979. Marian Paroo is played by Laura Hodos, who has been seen locally as Mrs. Lovett in Mad Cow Theater’s production of Sweeney Todd, in Streakin! with Orlando Fringe, as Marge, Suds and Lady Adele in the Winter Park Playhouse’s production of Fred Astaire, and as Oolie & Donna in the Orlando Theatre Project’s City of Angels. She is also a member of Actors’ Equity Association.
Be sure to join us and see why this story by Meredith Willson has remained a popular favorite! Tickets are on sale for $13 - $60. To purchase tickets, phone the Philharmonic’s box office at 407-770-0071 or visit www.OrlandoPhil.org.
