(Orlando, FL – July 6, 2006) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra concludes its 2006 Sounds of Summer Series with Heroes and Villains performed by the Sovereign Brass. The program takes place on Thursday, August 17, 7:00 PM at Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Avenue, in the air-conditioned comfort of the Garden House.
Performing this energetic program is the popular Sovereign Brass ensemble, who is known to breathe fresh life into the otherwise serious world of brass and chamber music. Comprising the Sovereign Brass are Mike Avila and Thomas Macklin, trumpets; Jeffrey Thomas, trombone; Kathleen Thomas, French horn, Robert Carpenter, tuba; and Mark Goldberg, percussion. The goal of the Sovereign Brass is to bring the highest quality music to the widest possible audience and to present this music in a way that is both entertaining and fun.
This program features musical repertoire that depicts heroes and villains from all forms of literature.
Sovereign Brass member Jeffrey Thomas says, “The music in this program will reflect the people who inspire, entertain and sometimes even frighten us. It includes selections from the heroic past in the form of Knights and Castles and even a hint of music from ‘The Dark Side.’ As always, this concert will be fun and entertaining with an emphasis on powerful and agile playing from the members of Sovereign Brass.”
Tickets are presently on sale and are $30 for adults and $15 for students with valid ID. To purchase tickets, phone the Philharmonic at 407-770-0071. Tickets are also available at the door on the evening of the performance, subject to availability, and on line at www.orlandophil.org. Each year, the concerts in this popular series sell out, so be sure to get your tickets early.
