Orlando, FL – June 7, 2006 -The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off its 2006 Sounds of Summer Series, a five-concert chamber series, with a program of musical delights from the beloved Baroque composer, Antonio Vivaldi.  The program takes place on Thursday, June 22 at 7:00 PM at Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Avenue, Orlando.  The concert is held in the air-conditioned comfort of the Garden House.  The concert is sponsored by Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed.

In his first concert as the official Music Director of the Orlando Philharmonic, Maestro Christopher Wilkins takes the stage as both conductor and harpsichordist.  Also featured on the program are Concertmaster Tamas Kocsis, along with Sacha Phelps, Joni Hanze-Bjella and Julia Gessinger, violins; Kenneth Martinson and Douglas Pritchard, violas; Barbara George, cello; Tye Van Buren, Double Bass; Aaron Goldman and Colleen Kocsis, flutes; Jared Hauser and Sherwood Hawkins, oboes; Sara Shaw and Renee Rosen, clarinets; and Diane Bishop, bassoon.

Showcasing a variety of instruments in some wonderful Vivaldi pieces, the program features toe-tapping pleasures, melodically inventive music and surprising instrumental combinations, all highlighting this unpredictable composer’s imaginative talent.  Included on the program are Concerto for Violin in C Minor, RV 199 “Il Sospetto,” Concerto for Flute and Bassoon in G Minor, RV 104 “La Notte,” Concerto for Three Violins in F Major, RV 551, Concerto for String Orchestra in D Minor, RV 129 “Madrigalesco,” Concerto for Four Violins and Cello in B Minor from “L’Estro Armonico,” RV 580 and Concerto for 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, Bassoon and 2 Violins in C Major, RV 556 “Solennita di S.
