(Orlando, FL – December 9, 2005) – The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates the 250th birthday of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with a festival of music and events highlighting his music and influence on composers throughout history.
The music of Mozart will be featured in three Philharmonic concerts, held in the month of January. The Mozart Festival concerts are as follows:
Focus Series
Tuesday, January 17, 2006 - 7:00 PM
Held in the Margeson Theater in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street, Orlando
Featuring:
Hal France, Conductor
Aaron Goldman, Flute
Rosalind Beck, Harp
This concert breaks the tradition of the Philharmonic’s usual Focus format of highlighting one composer, in order to show the influence that Mozart had on musical composition throughout history - especially on the work of another great musical giant, Beethoven. Maestro Hal France provides an educational element to the program with discourse about Mozart, his music, and the legacy he left to composers since his death at age 35. Enjoy Mozart’s Concerto for Flute & Harp, K. 299 in C Major and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, op. 36 in D Major.
Tickets to this performance are $35 (Level 1) and $25(Level 2), and can be purchased through the Philharmonic’s Box Office at 407-770-0071 or on line at www.orlandophil.org. Festival ticket packages are listed below.
