Ring in the Holiday Season With The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra

(Orlando, FL – October 6, 2005) - the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra rings in the holiday season with the fourth concert in the Phil at Carr Series, Home for the Holidays, now a popular tradition in Central Florida.  The concert is held on Saturday, November 26 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando.   A matinee performance is held at 2:00 PM and an evening performance is held at 8:00 PM.  The concert is sponsored by Merrill Lynch.  The Artist Sponsors for this program are The Real Yellow Pages® from BellSouth and Orlando Sentinel Communications.  Title Sponsor for the Phil at Carr Series is Orlando Sentinel Communications.

Orlando Philharmonic Principal Pops and Resident Conductor Andrew Lane heads this program of holiday favorites in a celebration of the spirit of the holiday season.  Lane, who has gained popularity as a talented and charismatic conductor throughout Central Florida, has also become a sought-after guest conductor, and has been featured as guest conductor with the Rochester Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic and The Florida Orchestra.  Lane is also Artistic Advisor of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Florida West Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Home for the Holidays celebrates the spirit of the holiday season with a program of beloved holiday classics featuring the Orlando Philharmonic along with guest artists from our hometown, Orlando. This season, audiences will enjoy the beautiful sounds of the Wesley Ringers Handbell Choir of First United Methodist Church, Downtown Orlando, as they perform Carol of the Bells and In a Manger.  The program also features the 60-voice Orlando Chorale under the direction of Chorale Music Director Gregory Ruffer, in works including And the Glory of the Lord, from The Messiah and What Sweeter Music.  Tenor Aaron Pegram, one of Orlando Opera’s popular Resident Artists, is featured in Twelve Gifts of Christmas,Gloria, The Adoration of the Magi and Greensleeves.

The Philharmonic performs holiday favorites including A Christmas Feast, Do You Hear What I Hear and Symphony of Carols

Tickets to both performances of this delightful holiday program are presently on sale for $12, $25, $35, $45 and $55. (Students with valid ID receive half price tickets in select areas.) To purchase tickets, phone the Orlando Philharmonic at 407-770-0071, or visit www.orlandophil.org. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster at 407-839-3900.

In the spirit of the holidays, the Philharmonic asks that patrons bring canned and nonperishable food items to help the Second Harvest Food Bank restock the depleted food pantries of Central Florida.  Last year, our patrons generously donated 315 pounds of food to help families throughout Central Florida.  With your help, we can feed even more families this year.
