Philharmonic Orchestra rings in the holiday season
with the fourth concert in the Phil at Carr Series, Home
for the Holidays, now a popular tradition
in Central Florida. The concert is held on
Saturday, November 26 at the Bob Carr Performing
Arts Centre, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando. A
matinee performance is held at 2:00 PM and an evening
performance is held at 8:00 PM. The concert
is sponsored by Merrill Lynch. The Artist Sponsors
for this program are The Real Yellow Pages® from
BellSouth and Orlando Sentinel Communications. Title
Sponsor for the Phil at Carr Series is Orlando
Sentinel Communications.
Orlando Philharmonic Principal Pops and Resident Conductor
Andrew Lane heads this program of holiday favorites
in a celebration of the spirit of the holiday season. Lane,
who has gained popularity as a talented and charismatic
conductor throughout Central Florida, has also become
a sought-after guest conductor, and has been featured
as guest conductor with the Rochester Philharmonic,
Naples Philharmonic and The Florida Orchestra. Lane
is also Artistic Advisor of the Florida Symphony Youth
Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Florida West
Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Home for the Holidays celebrates
the spirit of the holiday season with a program of
beloved holiday classics featuring the Orlando Philharmonic
along with guest artists from our hometown, Orlando.
This season, audiences will enjoy the beautiful sounds
of the Wesley Ringers Handbell Choir of First United
Methodist Church, Downtown Orlando, as they perform Carol
of the Bells and In a Manger. The
program also features the 60-voice Orlando Chorale
under the direction of Chorale Music Director Gregory
Ruffer, in works including And the Glory of the
Lord, from The Messiah and What Sweeter
Music. Tenor Aaron Pegram, one of Orlando
Opera’s popular Resident Artists, is featured
in Twelve Gifts of Christmas,Gloria, The
Adoration of the Magi and Greensleeves.
The Philharmonic performs holiday favorites including A
Christmas Feast, Do You Hear What I Hear and Symphony
of Carols.
Tickets to both performances of this delightful holiday
program are presently on sale for $12, $25, $35, $45
and $55. (Students with valid ID receive half price

In the spirit of the holidays, the Philharmonic asks
that patrons bring canned and nonperishable food items
to help the Second Harvest Food Bank restock the depleted
food pantries of Central Florida. Last year, our
patrons generously donated 315 pounds of food to help
families throughout Central Florida. With your
help, we can feed even more families this year.
