The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Celebrates Valentine’s Day with My Funny Valentine

Orlando, FL – January 6, 2005– The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates an early Valentine’s Day with a program of romantic favorites, titled My Funny Valentine, on Saturday, February 5, 2005. Two performances will be held - a matinee at 2:00 PM and an evening performance at 8:00 PM at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, 401 W. Livingston Street, Orlando. The concert is sponsored by Delta Air Lines. The Title Sponsor for the season is Orlando Sentinel Communications. The Broadcast Sponsor for the Phil at Carr Series is WKMG Local 6.

Michael Andrew and Swingerhead join Maestro Andrew Lane and the Orlando Philharmonic to perform some of the most romantic music even written, including classics from the Great American Song Book, with a few comedic twists. Enjoy favorites such as Almost Like Being in Love, Unforgettable, As Time Goes By, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and Stardust.

Andrew, who has always loved swing music, formed The Michael Andrew Orchestras in 1990 with the goal of providing timeless music in the style of the big bands of the forties and in the tradition of popular singers like Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra. In 1993, the world famous Rainbow Room in New York City invited Michael to become their headlining singer and band leader where he performed 5 to 6 nights a week for over two years. Michael currently enjoys working with his own bands as well as making frequent guest artist appearances with symphonic orchestras across the country.

Audiences will be sure to enjoy Michael Andrew with the Orlando Philharmonic in My Funny Valentine. Filled with laughter and romance, this program has something to warm everyone’s heart. Bring your valentine, bring your mom, bring the kids; My Funny Valentine promises to be popular with people of all ages.

Tickets to both performances are presently on sale for $12, $25, $35, $45 and $55. (Students with valid ID receive half price tickets in select areas.) Tickets can be purchased by phoning the Orlando Philharmonic at 407/896-6700, on our website at www.orlandophil.org, or through Ticketmaster at 407/839-3900.
