The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra continues the Focus Series with Georg Philipp Telemann

Orlando, FL – December 3, 2004 - Guest Conductor Anthony Hose joins the Orlando Philharmonic for the second concert in the 2004 -2005 Focus Series on Tuesday, January 25 2005. For this performance, the focus is on Georg Philipp Telemann, the most celebrated composer of his day, so prolific that he was never able to count the number of his compositions. The performance is held in the Margeson Theater in the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 E. Rollins Street. The program begins at 7:00 PM. The Media Sponsor is The Orlando Sentinel.

Georg Philipp Telemann features Hose with the Orlando Philharmonic chamber orchestra performing many of the composer’s finest works, including Concerto for Flute, Strings and Continuo in D Major, featuring Aaron Goldman on flute; Don Quichotte, Tafelmusik in D Minor and Concerto for Trumpet in D Major, featuring Thomas Macklin on Piccolo Trumpet.

Throughout the performance, Hose will provide discourse on the life and works of this celebrated composer.

Much like Telemann, conductor Anthony Hose was a musical child prodigy, playing piano at age three and performing his first recital at age six. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London majoring in piano, harpsichord, and conducting, additionally studying clarinet and double bass. He continued his conducting studies first in Salzburg and then with Rafael Kubelik in Munich and Geneva.

Hose works with many orchestras throughout Europe including the Berlin Symphony, Budapest Concert Orchestra, the Icelandic Symphony, the Rhine Philharmonic, the Munich Bach Collegium and the Orchestre de L'Opera de Lyons and in Britain with the London Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic, and the English Chamber and Welsh Chamber Orchestra, of which he is principal conductor.

Tickets are presently on sale at price levels of $25 and $32. To purchase tickets, phone the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra at 407-896-6700 or visit the Philharmonic’s website at www.orlandophil.org.

An additional presentation is held on Saturday, January 22 at 7:00 PM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 2021 West SR 426, Oviedo. Admission to this performance is free. This performance is sponsored by St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Oviedo and the Musician Performance Trust Fund.
