– The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra presents
the second program of its 2004 Sounds of Summer Series
on Thursday, July 8, 7:00 PM at Harry P. Leu Gardens,
1920 N. Forest Avenue, Orlando. The concert takes place
in the air-conditioned comfort of the Garden House.
The program, titled Beach Music, features the Philharmonic
String Quartet along with piano in a performance of
the lush and romantic music with some jazzy twists.
On the program is Piano Quintet in F sharp Minor, op.
67 and “Dreaming” for cello and piano, op.
15, #3 by composer Amy Beach. Also on the program is
L. A. Beach Music, op. 32 by Martin Yates, Molly on
the Shore by Percy Grainger and Beach Déjà
vu, arranged by Brian Smithers.
Comprising the Philharmonic String Quartet is Joni
Hanze-Bjella and Lev Gurevich, violin; Karen Peters,
viola; and Barbara George, cello. Keiko Andrews performs
on piano.
Tickets to Beach Music are $25. Students with valid
ID can purchase half price tickets. To purchase tickets,
phone the Philharmonic at 407-896-6700. Tickets are
also available at the door on the evening of the performance,
subject to availability. Each year, the concerts in
this popular series often sell out, so be sure to get
your tickets early.
