Baritone Timothy Noble made his Metropolitan Opera
debut in 1988 as Shaklovity in Khovanshchina and has
since returned to sing Michele in Il Tabarro, Albert
in Werther, Peter in Hansel and Gretel, Amonasro in
Aida, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Iago in Otello, Marcello
in La Boheme, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana, Christopher
Columbus in the world premiere of Philip Glass’
The Voyage, and Trinity Moses in Kurt Weill’s
The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. Noble has
appeared with the San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Music
Center Opera, Philadelphia Opera, Cincinnati Opera,
Chicago Lyric Opera, Dallas Opera, and the DeVlaamse
Opera in Antwerp. In addition, Noble has sung Germont
in La Traviata at the Glyndebourne Festival, the title
role of Simon Boccanegra in Frankfurt and Stuttgart,
the title role in Falstaff at the Netherlands Opera
and Stankar in Stiffelio with La Fenice in Venice, Italy.
Noble has also sung in concert with major symphony orchestras
in the United States. Recent appearances included Iago
in Otello for the Netherlands Opera, the title role
in Falstaff, for the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, and
Scarpia in Tosca for the Indianapolis Opera. Upcoming
engagements include the title role in Falstaff for the
Utah Opera, Elijah at Carnegie Hall in July with Donald
Neuen conducting, and Horace Tabor in The Ballad of
Baby Doe for Indianapolis Opera. Mr. Noble is currently
Professor of Music in Voice at the Indiana University
School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana.
