| Principal Flute
Aaron Goldman has been principal
flute of the Orlando Philharmonic since the fall of
2000. A native of Needham, Massachusetts, he
began his musical studies in the New England area,
taking music lessons at the New England Conservatory
Prep School and the Boston University School of Music. He
continued his education at the Eastman School of Music
in Rochester, NY where he received his Bachelor of
Music degree studying flute with Bonita Boyd and piccolo
with Anne Harrow. His other principal teachers
include Richard Sherman and Jaqueline DeVoe.
Prior to
his position with the OPO, Aaron was principal flute
of the Greater Lansing Symphony in Michigan, and co-principal
flute of the Schlossfestpiele Opera Orchestra in Heidelberg
Germany.
As soloist, Aaron has appeared with the Orlando Philharmonic,
the Chamber Orchestra of Florida, and the Rochester
Chamber Orchestra, and has been featured on the Philharmonic’s
Serenade and Sounds of Summer Series.
Aaron has
participated and won prizes in numerous competitions,
including first prize in the Richardson Young Artist
Competition, second prize in the London Choral Guild
International Young Artist Competition, and was a finalist
in the William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition.
Aaron
lives in Winter Park where he maintains an active teaching
studio and conducts the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra
Flute Choir.
